1. We need to build the business case for investing in mental health. Can you help?

Yes, we would be very happy to arrange a call to give you advice on how best to make the case for investing in mental health. Please just get in touch via the contact form, so that we can find a good time to chat.

2. What is Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and what is the evidence of its effectiveness?

MHFA aims to increase mental health literacy and reduce the stigma often associated with mental ill health. Operating in 26 countries, MHFA training has reached over 3 million people. Our associates are all accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health and licenced by MHFA England to deliver a range of their training courses.

We have seen first-hand the positive impact of MHFA training on individuals and organisations. It can be a vital part of the wider mental health ecosystem within organisations and society.

MHFA England courses are based on extensive research. They are developed with mental health experts and those with lived experience of mental ill health.

You can find a list of evaluation studies on MHFA England's Evaluations and Research webpage. You can also see what people have said about MHFA courses on the MHFA England Case studies webpage and in the testimonials across this site.

3. What is the right training for me/my organisation?

All the training we provide is relevant to anyone in an organisation, including employees, line managers, HR, Occupational Health and senior leaders. The half-day MHFA course is targetted at employees with little or no knowledge of mental health. It is particularly effective for increasing awareness across a broad staff base. The one and two-day MHFA courses are most relevant to those with responsibility for others, for example, line managers, supervisors, public-facing employees and HR. The two-day MHFA course is the only one which certifies participants as Mental Health First Aiders. Mental Health First Aiders are expected to re-certify every three years through a Refresher course.

If none of these are what you're after, we design and deliver bespoke training, talks and tools. We can work together to create something that meets your specific needs, including listening skills, stress and resilience, depression and anxiety, and mental health for managers.

4. What can we expect from a training course or workshop?

Developing your mental health knowledge and skills is hugely enjoyable and rewarding. We create an open, non-judgemental environment to maximise learning and put people at ease. The courses cover difficult topics, which can sometimes affect people in unexpected ways and touch on personal experience. We have extensive experience of managing this and always prioritise the safety of participants, who can opt out of any activity, if they wish. It is important for participants to understand that whilst our mental health training will invite them to explore and better understand their own mental health, the primary focus is on upskilling them to offer support to others in a workplace context. Participants do sometimes share personal experiences. While this is a very valuable part of learning, it is never expected or required and is always confidential.

The courses are interactive and rely on everyone's full participation. We use a range of techniques and media to engage different learners. Course materials and follow on resources are often provided.

5. How long do mentoring programmes last?

The length of a mentoring programme will depend on the needs of the individual or group. Programmes are designed on a bespoke basis to meet your goals and requirements. One-to-one mentoring programmes generally last between two and six months with meetings on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. Group mentoring programmes tend to last longer with meetings taking place monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly.

6. What are the costs of the different services?

Please get in touch to discuss costs. Prices vary depending on the content and scale of a project. Discounts are available for voluntary sector organisations, small businesses and those making multiple bookings. 1% of all profits are donated to mental health charities.

7. How do we get in touch to discuss our needs?
